Is it really better than sex?..... well... not sure I'd go
that far.... but it is very good... very good indeed.
TIPS
The recipe I saw at Pillsbury... which by the way... they
called "Better than Anything Cake" ... used a German Chocolate Cake
mix.... I personally.. think Devil's Food Cake is a better choice... but... my taste
tester... who loves German Chocolate Cake disagreed.... so you can use either
one for sure.
I read many, many reviews ... on all sorts of sites... and a
significant number complained about the sweetness.... so I cut back on the
caramel... my advice ...don't... it is very sweet.. but .. you cut the pieces
smaller then... the whole idea of a poke cake is to infuse the flavor of the
addition... in this case, the sweetened condensed milk and caramel....
Be sure to use sweetened condensed milk.
You can use any brand cake mix.. just follow the
instructions on the box to make a 9 x 13 size cake... then follow the rest of
these instructions....
If you're not a fan of toffee chips... or you don't have
them on hand... you could substitute butterscotch or mini chocolate chips.
Try this cake to satisfy a sweet tooth... just remember...
small pieces will go a long way....
Recipe: Better than Sex Cake
All you need:
1 devil's food, German Chocolate Cake or chocolate cake mix
Ingredients on the box
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 jar (6 oz.) caramel ice cream topping
1 (8 oz.) tub of Cool Whip, thawed
Toffee chips
All you need to do:
Bake the cake mix according to package instructions for a 9
x 13 cake.
While the cake is still warm (about 5 mins out of the
oven)... poke holes all over the cake ... about 1/2 inch apart... think how you
will cut the pieces.... you will want a poked hole or two in each piece so you
can have a taste of the "filling".
In a medium bowl (if using a microwave) or a medium
saucepan.... mix the sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping... heat over
low heat to mix and make it a bit runny. You want the mixture warm not hot.
Pour the mixture into all the poked holes.... I used a gravy
ladle so you don't pour too much at once otherwise it will run over the top and
down the sides of the cake.... let it sink into the cake.
