Beef Tostadas... they're
easy to make... delicious and always a favorite... and albeit messy... but
nonetheless fun to eat.
A crispy fried tortilla (corn or flour) topped with taco beef...
shredded lettuce, cheese, chopped green onion, salsa and sour cream or guacamole...
I told you... messy... but good.
TIPS
I seasoned the beef with my Taco Seasoning... a great
seasoning and also easy to make... or you can use the package stuff if you
prefer.. but I encourage you to try my recipe... click the link for it.
These are essentially open faced tacos... so supper is on
the table in under 30 minutes.
You can fry these in hot oil in a skillet.. one at a time or
you can spray them with cooking oil spray and bake them in the oven.
I like to serve these with my Spanish Rice... I hope you try
them!
Recipe: Beef Tostadas
All you need:
1 pound lean ground beef
Taco Seasoning (homemade or store bought)
Shredded lettuce
Chopped green onion
Shredded Mexican Blend cheese
Salsa
Guacamole
Sour Cream
Tortillas
Cooking oil
All you need to do:
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
Put about a 1/4 inch of cooking oil into a skillet and heat
over medium high heat.. you want it sizzling hot but not smoking hot.... when
the oil is hot.. fry a tortilla one at a time... using tongs to flip them
over.. you want them golden in color and stiff... it should take about 30-45
seconds a piece... let them drain off excess oil.... then place them on a
baking sheet and keep warm in the oven while you fry the rest.
Brown the beef in a skillet over medium high heat and follow
the instructions for your taco seasoning.
Serve the fried tortillas, taco beef and garnishes and allow
everyone to make their own.
