Use the real thing… butter… this is not the time to use margarine.
This will gel up after sitting… just reheat it and it will get runny again.

Recipe: Brown Sugar Butter Sauce
All you need:
1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup cream
½ teaspoon vanilla
All you need to do:
Place ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Serve warm on top of cake.
