Recipe: Faux Pastry Cream
This easy recipe for Faux Pastry Cream makes a darn good “pastry cream” in under 10 minutes. It’s great for a last minute dessert.
I almost always have some heavy cream on hand since it has such a long shelf life… and I also keep pudding mix and milk on hand also… so throwing this together is quick and easy and can be used in so many dessert recipes.
TIPS
I recommend you use whole milk … it makes a creamier pudding base for this.

Recipe: Faux Pastry Cream
All you need:
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Instant Pudding
1 ½ cups whole milk
All you have to do:
In a large mixing bowl beat the heavy cream, sugar and vanilla until fairly stiff peaks form. Set aside.
In another large mixing bowl, beat the instant pudding and milk for 2 minutes. Let the pudding stand for 5 minutes.
Fold in the whipped cream.
