Beef Tips

Beef tips over noodles… a wonderful meal to serve the family… nice enough for company… the slow simmer cooks the meat perfectly to a melt in your mouth perfection!
TIPS
Don’t be tempted to add additional salt to this dish… the soy sauce and gravy mix add more than enough salt.
I like Pioneer brand gravy mixes, but use any brand beef broth and gravy mix you prefer.
If you don’t want to use wine in your cooking,  just use more beef broth in place of it.
I use a reasonably good Cabernet Sauvignon for the wine.  Nothing wildly expensive but definitely drinking quality.  I always use drinking quality wine.. don’t be tempted to use those ‘cooking wines” they do not do your dish justice and usually have too much salt in them.
Try this delicious recipe… your beef eaters will love it!

Recipe:  Beef Tips
All you need:
2 pounds cubed beef stew meat
½ cup flour
Sprinkling of garlic powder
Sprinkling of salt and pepper
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
1 large garlic clove, minced
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
1 ¾ cup beef broth
¼ cup red wine
1 packet brown gravy mix
All you have to do:
Mix the flour, sprinkling of garlic powder, salt and pepper in a flat bowl.  Dredge the meat in the flour mixture.
In a large skillet (with high sides), heat the olive oil over medium high heat.  Sauté the onions and minced garlic until translucent and remove to a plate.  **Do not let the onions brown, lower the heat slightly if needed.  Brown the meat on all sides and remove the meat to a plate.
Deglaze the pan with the red wine, scraping up the brown bits on the bottom of the skillet.  Add the onions, garlic and browned meat back into the skillet.  Add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and beef broth.  Bring it to a brisk simmer, not quite boiling.  Lower the heat to a steady simmer.  Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
Add the gravy mix and simmer for about 20 minutes until the gravy has thickened, stirring frequently.
Serve over noodles or rice.
