Recipe: Oven Baked BBQ Country Style Pork Ribs

This tasty little recipe for Country Style Pork Ribs is perfect for summer night meals. Sometimes you just don’t have the time to grill…. so oven baking is a perfect alternative. Serve it with a bun or on a plate… with fresh corn and potatoes… maybe some coleslaw… a perfect meal for sure!

It is easy but not quick… although you can make it in two parts to make it more “weeknight friendly”.

TIPS

I boil the ribs for an hour then bake them… if you don’t have that kind of time… boil them one night and store them in the fridge… then the next night all you have to do is bake them… literally … all you have to do slather (don’t you love that word?) them in your favorite BBQ sauce and bake them… nothing else.. that simple…. how great is that??

Use a foil lined pan and clean up is a snap.. just the kind of clean up for a busy night!

These are great for parties… prepare them by boiling them then pop them in the oven an hour before you need to serve them…

If you haven’t tried my BBQ Sauce (it’s a Neely recipe)… definitely try it… it’s one fabulous sauce..

If you use store bought sauce… you will need almost a complete bottle… for 6-8 ribs. Serve the ribs with extra sauce at the table.

I used boneless ribs.. you can use ribs on the bone if you want.

I wouldn’t recommend skipping the boiling.. it makes them very tender and it also infuses the light garlic flavor into the meat.

Try it … you’ll like it!

All you need:

Country Style Pork Ribs
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons salt
Your favorite BBQ Sauce, homemade or store bought

All you need to do:

Place the ribs in a large pot and cover with water (about an inch above the meat). Add the garlic powder, black pepper and salt. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour.

Remove the meat with tongs to a foil covered baking pan.

Pour a good amount of BBQ sauce over the ribs. Cover with foil.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour. Turn the ribs over and pour more BBQ sauce on them after 30 minutes.

After baking a total of 1 hour, remove to a platter. Drizzle a little more BBQ sauce on them if needed and serve.

Hi, I just made this recipe tonight & my husband absolutely LOVED it :) He said the ribs were so tender! I just had one question about it, though....when you bring the ribs to a boil & while they are simmering, do you use a lid on the pot?

Thanks again....I'm glad I found your website :)

Glad you liked the ribs! They are great and easy to make too! To answer your question... no... I don't put a lid on my pot.. but I do check them periodically to make sure they don't need more water.

Thanks for stopping by.. and adding a comment... always glad when someone enjoys my recipes!

Just wondering if I should bake covered for the second hour.

Hi Larry,

First you par boil them by bringing them to a boil and simmering them on top of the stove. You don't cover the pot you cook them in.. just check the water periodically to make sure you don't need to add more water.

Then you cover them in BBQ sauce and cover it with foil... you bake them for 1 hour in the oven... turning them over after the 30 minutes... adding more BBQ sauce if you like... at this point you can remove the foil or put it back.. it's up to you... I put the foil back on.. I like my ribs juicy and moist... if you rather have them a little drier.. then remove the foil for those last 30 minutes.

I hope this helps.. and I hope you enjoy your ribs. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Chelsea..

Not quite sure what you're asking... but here goes....bring the water to a boil... so it would be high heat.. then turn it down until it simmers... mine usually simmers at medium high heat...and simmer it for an hour...

The oven temperature is 325 degrees F.

Hope that helps.

I made these & they were tender & delicious. I have to tell you that I have never made ribs - if we have them, my husband makes them outside. With his busy schedule, he doesn't grill outside near as much as I would like, so I decided I would have to try to make them inside & I found your recipe. I liked the simple, quick recipe, but I also liked the casual instructions, as if I were talking with a friend. I can't believe the next time my husband wanted ribs, that he asked for my recipe! Thank you, Linda! I will be looking for more of your recipes! Theresa Macko
