Recipe: Cookies and Cream Brownies

Cookies and Cream Brownies will be the hit of any casual get-together… they are so sweet and good… and they go with everything… everyone will love them… after all…what’s not to love?… crushed Oreo cookies and chewy chocolatey brownies.

You can use a mix for the brownies or make them from scratch using my Brownie recipe… I was in a hurry this time… we were invited to a get together fairly last minute… so I used my favorite Betty Crocker fudge brownie mix… mixed up the batter and while they were baking … I made the frosting.

This recipe was adapted from Betty Crocker….the brownies are made as normal but with crushed Oreo cookies added….then topped with a homemade vanilla frosting mixed with chopped Oreo cookies… all I can say is yummmmm…

I recently brought them to a barbeque… and yes it was a barbeque… I’m in south Georgia and our nice days are absolutely perfect this time of year… the brownies were a definite hit … they got the thumbs up from the adults and all the kids as well… so here’s a quick and easy recipe to make.

TIPS

I broke Oreo cookies in half and placed them cut side down on top of the brownie for decoration.

Use a pizza cutter for an easy way to cut brownies… wipe blade with a paper towel occasionally.

Recipe: Cookies and Cream Brownies

All you need:

For the Brownies:

10 Oreo cookies, crushed
1 box (1 lb. 2.3 oz.) Betty Crocker Brownie Mix or homemade brownie batter
If using the boxed brownie mix you will also need:
¼ cup water
2/3 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs

For the Frosting:

½ cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 Oreo cookies, chopped
2-3 tablespoons milk
About 12 Oreo cookies broken in half for decoration (optional)

All you need to do:

To make the brownies:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease the bottom only of a 13x9 baking pan.

In a large bowl, mix the brownie batter (using the box mix or homemade recipe).

Add the 10 crushed Oreo cookies and mix well.

Bake as directed on brownie mix box or recipe.

To make the frosting:

In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until light and fluffy.

Beat in all remaining ingredients except the milk.

Add the chopped Oreo cookies and mix well.

Add enough milk for desired consistency. I used 2 teaspoons of milk.

Spread over cooled brownies.

Decorate with half of an Oreo cookie (see photo).
