Recipe: Tia Maria and Coffee aka Calypso Coffee

In honor of National Whipped Cream Day and with most of the nation in a deep freeze… those cold winter nights need something to warm you up from the inside out…. and specialty coffees can fit the bill. I figured this would be a good time to post the recipe for Tia Maria and Coffee.

I fell in love with Tia Maria and Coffee when I was dating my husband a long time ago… and I’ve been a devotee ever since. Tia Maria is a Jamaican made coffee liqueur…. the taste is subtle and smooth…. without overpowering the coffee…. it enhances the flavor…. perfect for a cold winter night… in fact it was a cold winter night when he first made it for me…

TIPS

I add cream to the coffee… or you can add one of those specialty coffee creamers… French vanilla would go well… since Tia Maria is made with vanilla as well.

The recipe says to use 1.5 ounces of Tia Maria… if you’re using a tall mug…you may want to use a bit more…. I use 2 to 2.5 ounces… depending on your taste… will depend on the amount you use… you can always have fun experimenting!

This is a perfect specialty coffee drink to serve guests…. try it… I know you’ll like it!

The mug is by RECO International… I love the mug… it looks so stylish….they come in a set of four… perfect for entertaining… they come in other colors as well… They're microwave, oven and dishwasher safe....You can find them at fine stores and online at Romertopf .
